LA based Alec Pederson, who worked on the Academy Award winning documentary, 'The Cove', has jumped on board with Ebony Butler from Atlantic Star Productions, as a producer of her documentary 'Child Troopers', which has been over two years in the making.
'Child Troopers' explores the longest running conflict in Africa, caused by a brutal rebel army known as the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army). Headed by self-proclaimed spirit Joseph Kony, one of the world's most wanted men, his army consists largely of abducted children who are brain washed and forced to commit his evil sins against the civilian population.
The documentary follows the horrific trail of terror that continues throughout East Africa, despite international efforts to stop the LRA and bring its leaders to justice. The film aims to bring about an end to the use of child soldiers worldwide, while also raising much needed awareness about the importance of civilian protection and children's rights.
With US partners now on board, Atlantic Star will hopefully get the funding needed for completion and world wide broadcast of 'Child Troopers', and bring attention to this severely underreported crisis, shedding light on this ongoing humanitarian catastrophe and making sure it as at the forefront, after almost 3 decades of silence.
